Course Outline

A HR Leader’s most valuable assets are the relationships they form with their managers and peers, as these trusted relationships add value to the leaders they work with. Coaching in people leadership, leading culture and developing high performing teams are unique contributions every HR Leader must bring to the table. In this session, you will learn how to create a sustainable peer cohort that also supports your own development and career.

You will learn:

  • A comparison of the history and future of the HR role and capabilities
  • The core areas of HR coaching
  • How to design a HR coaching map
  • How peer cohort and cohort learning helps to develop leaders

Module 1: HR in the Future

  • History of HR – where it came from and where it is heading
  • Looking at ‘old school’ traditional
  • HR skills and how these have changed Future-facing HR capabilities

Group Discussion: Discuss the best new HR models and research from around the world, the pros and cons and what will likely change in the current climate

Module 2: HR Coaching

  • A model of HR Coaching
  • Assessment, gap analysis and supporting changes in mindset and skillset
  • The core areas of HR Coaching: People Leadership, Talent, Leading Culture and Performance

Activity: Create a HR Coaching model where you are not the direct manager, but rather a trusted advisor as leaders develop or a direct report to a senior leader who needs a change in mindset or skill set 

Module 3: Coaching Leaders

  • The new expectations of people and business leaders
  • Coaching core basics to set the baseline standards in your leadership team
  • Coaching individuals to inspire change
  • Coaching individuals who are seeking to improve as leaders

Group Disussion: Design Coaching Maps to create impactful coaching and measurable change, with specific examples 

Module 4: The Importance of Peer Cohorts

  • Creating a peer cohort
  • The practice of peer-to-peer learning and problem solving
  • Setting up a peer cohort that grows and develops with you
  • The importance of peer networks for growth and career

Activity: Build a peer cohort that uses cohort learning as the baseline. This exercise will also be using a Peer Map to set rules of engaging going forward
